Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the world’s largest clothing retailer and a brand with a very strong identity. Their Human Resources team recruits talent from around the world that range from part-time in store workers and progresses to high-level professionals to work in the corporate offices.
The Challenge: Buried Site and Brand Inconsistencies
Abercrombie & Fitch faced two primary challenges with their recruiting efforts. First, their existing recruitment website was integrated into the main Abercrombie & Fitch site, making it hard to locate, manage, and update. Second, they required a better method to highlight the diverse range of recruitment activities and job openings available. Furthermore, maintaining brand consistency was essential, a critical aspect of their business. This necessitated the accurate replication of specific technical brand elements – including precise grey shades, high-definition video content, and a defined font collection – across any platform a user might access.
The Solution: Custom CMS Delivered Exact Brand Replication
Switchbox partnered with Conrad Philips Vutech to produce a visually appealing and brand-consistent solution for Abercrombie & Fitch’s careers site. This involved developing a dedicated URL (www.anfcareers.com) with seamless integration to the main website. A custom, user-friendly Content Management System (CMS) was created, featuring a live preview of the webpage during editing, ensuring intuitive use and easy training for A&F employees. Oh! And the new CMS incorporated A&F’s worldwide-recognized branding, too!
Furthermore, Switchbox expertly engineered CPV’s design into a responsive website. This technical implementation allows the site to automatically adapt its visual style and scaling based on the user’s device (desktop, tablet, smartphone, etc.), providing an optimal viewing experience across all platforms. Vimeo Pro was integrated for video content, with customized interfaces that reflected the Abercrombie & Fitch brand identity.
The Outcome: Launch Secured Recruiting Stability
Deployed in fall 2012 before A&F’s peak recruiting season, the website has been regularly updated by staff via the CMS to reflect seasonal graphic changes. Server traffic initially surged for six weeks as users explored the tools, then stabilized into a consistent pattern with regional spikes coinciding with recruiter visits to campuses in the US, Europe, and Asia.
