An outdated website and manual membership processes
Ohio Corn & Wheat represents the collective voice of over 30,000 farmers across the state. But their website, and the tech stack behind it, wasn’t keeping pace.
Built on an outdated version of WordPress, the site was non-responsive, hard to update, and reliant on external support. Events were difficult to manage with no tools for registration, attendance tracking, or post-event reporting. Membership processes were entirely paper-based, from applications to dues.
Despite their strategic alliance of checkoff and member organizations, the website failed to represent their unified brand or engage their large and diverse audience.
Modernizing for a multi-organization alliance
Switchbox partnered with Frazier Heiby to evaluate Ohio Corn & Wheat’s existing WordPress infrastructure and the full breadth of their member services—spanning checkoff contributors, association members, and three affiliated organizations.
We designed a custom CMS strategy that would give staff full control over content, events, and membership functions independently, and scoped a backend built for scalability across all 9 member districts.
A modern, responsive website with full admin control
Switchbox, in partnership with Frazier Heiby, delivered a fully reimagined digital experience. This included: a 4K-ready, mobile-responsive website built with a custom CMS putting control in the hands of Ohio Corn & Wheat’s team; tools for creating and managing events including dynamic forms, downloadable documents, and exportable reports; online membership applications, dues payment, and committee signups all digitized; and a scalable backend featuring Google Analytics, content versioning, staff management, and flexible publishing workflows.
Engaged members, streamlined operations, stronger brand presence
Since launch, Ohio Corn & Wheat has seen increased engagement from members who can now apply, pay dues, and get involved online; saved time and reduced admin overhead through automated processes for events and membership; and a site that now accurately represents their alliance and mission.
The platform helps the organization better educate, advocate, and lead in the agricultural community—serving 2,441 members, 20,000 checkoff contributors, and 30,000+ Ohio farmers.
