The Challenge

On large-scale farms, harvesting is a high-stakes operation involving fleets of combines, tractors, and grain carts. But without the right technology, farmers struggled to coordinate their crews.
Communication breakdowns between drivers led to delays in crop transfers. There was no centralized visibility into who was harvesting where or when. Tracking grain movement between fields, dump locations, and holding bins was manual, error-prone, and inefficient.
The result: lost time, lost yield, and a logistical mess during the busiest season of the year. PIPE AG set out to change that with a solution built for the realities of modern, high-output farming.

Switchbox partnered with a hardware development firm to evaluate the full scope of the farming coordination challenge—from grain transfer timing to compaction tracking and crew communication. We designed a system architecture that would integrate Bluetooth sensor data from grain trailer scales, GPS tracking, and native iOS app functionality into a cohesive platform.
We mapped out the reporting and mapping capabilities that farmers needed to make real-time decisions at scale, and scoped the platform around the harsh, connectivity-limited realities of the field.
